This week the Art league's spring term is beginning, and I am looking forward to teaching 3 classes. One is for anyone wanting to give watercolor a try "Watercolor for the Joy of It". Some students come in with no art experience whatsoever, at least not since they were in elementary school, and others want to get back into watercolor, having left it for a while, sometimes for years. When we all have fun with the medium, this is when the learning is the best! This class happens on Tuesday evenings 7:00-9:30 pm.
The other two classes are for students with some experience, and we'll be looking at "Watercolor Choices for Mood and Atmosphere". Art is for communication, and not just to record something. So we will be developing tools for expressing more of the feeling that leads an artist to choose to devote time and effort to paint something in particular. The class has two sessions, one on Wednesday mornings 9:30 to 12:30, and another on Wednesday afternoon 1:00 to 4:00 -- the same material will be covered in both sessions.
If this interests you, it is not too late to register to be part of a class -- look at the Art League's website www.theartleague.org to find descriptions of the classes and to enroll. Let me know if you would like to see a supply list for the beginner class by contacting me at rbcollinsart@yahoo.com . For the more advanced class, just bring the supplies you are most familiar with to the first class.
Art is a great way to celebrate spring, but also just to be human! After all, art has been made since time immemorial -- it is in humanity's blood, especially when we are in need of a regeneration of spirit.
All my best,
Rachel
