Plant Paintings

Plants are some of nature’s most sculptural forms, and have given me subject and inspiration since I first started painting in the 1990's.  They have called me to mold and carve them, but in two dimensions not in three.  Working as I do in successive layers of watercolor paint, there is something of the sculptor’s feeling of pushing and pulling as I manipulate shapes through changes in color and value.
