Art Organizations

These are the art organizations Rachel is  involved in and supports:

The Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association (TFAA) is a thriving professional artist community of about 150 juried visual artists. The Association was the founding entity of the Torpedo Factory Art Center and has helped grow and mentor artists for over 45 years. Member artists resident in the Art Center share their individual art-making processes daily with the public in more than 80 studios and galleries, as there are studios open 7 days a week.  Rachel juried into the Artists Association in 2003 and has been a lease-holding artist in the Factory since October 2004.

The Art League in Alexandria, VA is a multifaceted visual arts organization that meets its mission through its gallery, fine art school, art supply store, and arts-outreach programs. The watercolor classes are so popular that there are 10 instructors teaching to meet the need! Rachel has taught for the Art League since 1996.

The Potomac Valley Watercolorists is a juried nonprofit organization of over 200 artists in Virginia, Maryland, DC and Delaware that seeks to promote the art and excellence of watercolor painting. The organization exhibits throughout the greater Washington, DC area and regularly offers workshops with nationally recognized instructors.  Rachel has been active in the organization since the mid-1990’s.

Many visual art organizations award “signature membership” to those member artists who have demonstrated a high level of achievement in their creative field.

Rachel has achieved this honor in several national watercolor societies:

A bit closer to home are her signature memberships in Southern, Baltimore, Virginia, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Watercolor Societies, all organizations enthusiastic about promoting this sometimes elusive but always rewarding medium.
