Experimental Watercolor

Most of my work is in transparent watercolor, painted in multiple glazes – one layer of paint added over top another layer that has fully dried already.  There are a few exceptions, where thinned out acrylic has been put on the paper in places to create a partial resist, before the watercolor is added.  Most “experimental watermedia” involve using media other than true watercolor, such as acrylic, inks, gouache, and possibly various additives to alter the paint action.  I mostly stay within the realm of transparent watercolor and enjoy using it in rather unusual ways.  Some of the more successful results are shown here.
